Practical guide
How to join a shareholders’ club
Already hold shares in a company that offers a club? Start by checking its conditions, then follow its membership procedure. Owning a share does not by itself confirm that your club membership is active.
This guide is for existing shareholders. Its examples cover two French clubs, not the rules of every programme. Actionary is an independent directory and does not process applications.
Guide sources checked on
1.Find the club’s official page
Start with the company website’s Shareholders or Investors section. From an Actionary programme record, follow the official-source link to find the conditions and application process.
A club may use a separate portal: reach it through the company website. Check that you are applying for club membership rather than simply subscribing to a newsletter or registering for an event.
2.Check your eligibility
Look for the minimum number of shares, the eligible securities and the accepted holding forms: bearer, direct registered or intermediary registered shares. Also check for any holding-period or residency requirements.
A condition missing from a summary still needs clarification. If your circumstances are not covered — for example, a joint account, holding through an intermediary or living abroad — ask the club before assuming that you qualify.
3.Prepare the requested evidence
Read the proof-of-ownership requirements. Check which document is accepted, how recent it must be and which information it must show. If necessary, ask your financial intermediary how to obtain the required document.
Procedures vary: one form may ask for an ownership declaration, while another requires a securities account statement. A document accepted by one club may not be accepted elsewhere. Send evidence only through the designated official channel, never to Actionary.
4.Complete the official application
Follow the membership link and provide the requested information. Read the terms of use, data-processing information and communication choices before submitting your application to the company or its designated provider.
If the portal is unavailable or an instruction is unclear, use the shareholder contact published on the official website. Avoid sending a complete application to an address found through an unverified source.
5.Check confirmation and access to activities
Keep the acknowledgement and membership confirmation where provided. Follow any instructions for activating your member account. A submitted form does not, on its own, confirm admission; contact the club if you are unsure.
Once you are a member, read each activity’s own conditions. A visit may require a separate booking and have limited places. Do not treat membership as a reservation or a guarantee of access to every benefit.
6.Note ongoing eligibility and renewal rules
Check how long membership lasts, the conditions you must continue to meet and what to do when it expires. Note the relevant dates and read the rules again before renewing.
If you no longer meet the conditions, follow the club’s instructions for notifying it. A card, offer or event may have a different validity period from your club membership.
Two examples of different procedures
These examples illustrate what to check. Consult the linked official sources before applying.
LVMH
The Club is open to individuals holding at least one Paris-listed LVMH bearer share or one registered share. To join, the rules request a securities account statement from the financial intermediary, issued less than three months earlier.
Membership starts when the Club’s confirmation is received and lasts two years, provided you remain a shareholder. Renewal requires recent ownership evidence; the French and English rules use different terms for that document. Confirm the accepted document with the Club.
VINCI
VINCI presents its Club as open from one share. On the French-language registration form, selecting “Individuel” (Individual shareholder) displays a declaration on honour that you hold at least one VINCI share.
The form does not clarify whether further ownership evidence may be requested. This observation therefore does not mean that no checks can take place. Event registration is a separate step under VINCI’s stated procedures.
Before submitting your application
- I reached the portal through an official source.
- I checked the conditions that apply to my holding.
- Where required, I prepared evidence in the requested format and within the stated age limit.
- I read the terms and communication choices.
- I know how to check membership confirmation and renewal.
Frequently asked questions
Do my shares have to be registered?
Not for every club: LVMH’s rules, for example, accept both bearer and registered shares. Check the relevant club’s rules; joining a club and registering your shares are separate procedures.
Is a PEA or a brokerage account enough?
The account type alone does not establish eligibility. Check the club’s conditions and ask your intermediary about your holding form and available evidence. This guide does not verify any broker’s services.
Can I apply through Actionary?
No. Actionary helps you find information and official links. Applications and documents go to the company or its designated provider.
